Women's Health
As females, we have a unique physiology which needs to be cared for and nurtured. Specialist physiotherapy assessment and directed treatment can help with women’s health issues from pregnancy to menopause. In addition, we provide a compassionate pre-natal and post-natal service for those who have experienced child loss during pregnancy or after birth.
How we can help you
We commonly treat the following conditions, but please do get in touch if what you’re experiencing isn’t listed:
- leaking / urinary incontinence
- prolapse rehab with or without surgery
- pre-and postnatal Pilates in pregnancy to reduce potential problems
- pregnancy related problems e.g. back or pelvic pain, carpel tunnel syndrome etc.
- postnatal problems for example postpartum diastasis recti and urinary incontinence dysfunction
- hysterectomy rehab
Addressing the Imbalance
We are passionate to address the known discrepancy in treatment between men and women. The first women’s health survey in 2022 reported that 84% of women felt they were not listened to by health care professionals. Often shamed by these experiences, and the nature conditions themselves, many women continue to suffer in silence from imminently treatable conditions.
Did you know that in the UK:
- 1 in 3 women experience urinary leaking
- 70% of women start leaking after giving birth
- 50% of women who have given birth go on to have a pelvic organ prolapse or vaginal prolapse
- 60% of women who have not given birth will experience significant bladder or bowel symptoms
The good news is that pelvic floor muscle work and core work with a physiotherapist resolves or significantly reduces leaking and the risk of vaginal or pelvic organ prolapse in later in life.
